The Spring Financial Inclusion News Review

A FIF Quarterly Breakfast Event

Where: Reed Smith, Broadgate Tower, 20 Primrose St, London, EC2A 2RS

When: Tuesday, 15th May, 2018; 8:30-10:30am

Who: Blaine Stephens, COO, MIX; and Christine Allison, CSFI

Time flies! Three months has passed since the first Financial Inclusion News Review of 2018 – the Forum’s quarterly breakfast event. The FINR is a response to a perceived (and since, proven) need among British-based financial inclusion sector observers and practitioners to hear a run-down and round-up of what’s going on across different areas of the sector, and to be able to debate those issues around a table.  We held three events last year – in April, September and November – and the first of this year on February 20th. We’re delighted to announce the next event – the Spring News Review – will be held on May 15th.

Besides a summary of interesting news stories in deals, market developments, regulation, research, product innovation, FinTech and the like, the News Review includes a ‘deep dive’ into one or two relevant issues of the day. Last time around, we spent quite some time on the financial inclusion metrics produced at the World Economic Forum at Davos, and did ‘deep dives’ into Housing Microfinance, building on the outcomes of the European Microfinance Award, and the upcoming e-MFP paper and May 9th FIF event on this subject, as well as revisiting the Alliance of Financial Inclusion ten years on from the creation of this global network of financial inclusion regulators. In November, in response to feedback, we also added a ‘Where are they now?’ section, following up on some of the issues and news stories raised in the previous meetings.

There is plenty to talk about again, and we hope you’ll join us, and take the opportunity to weigh in on any particular issues you’d like us to focus on. We’re pleased to welcome back Blaine Stephens of MIX to present ‘The News’, and Christine Allison of the CSFI and formerly the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Task Group on Responsible Credit and Savings, to moderate the session.

Finally, as always all our appreciation to Reed Smith, a long-time supporter of FIF and the sector, for generously continuing to host this series. We hope to see you on May 15th. Spaces are first-come-first-served, and reservation (as well as active participation if you’re there!) is mandatory. If you’d like to come and join us for an excellent breakfast and discussion, please contact Antonella at:

We hope to see you there and then.
